P.P. O’Connor has started the earthworks and groundworks for The Maggie’s Centre at St. James’s University Hospital. Designed by the world renowned architecture studio – Heatherwick Studio, the charity centre is expected help thousands of cancer patients and their families across Yorkshire every year.
Paul Sanderson, regional director, P.P. O’Connor said: “Maggie’s is carefully designed to cater for the emotional, practical and social needs of anyone who is affected by cancer. It’s such a privilege to work on the project which will provide such a great benefit to many people.”
P.P. O’Connor is undertaking several key components of the construction work including all drainage systems, construction of foundations and floor slabs, service diversions and external landscape improvement.
Construction officially started in January and is expected to take slightly longer than a year to complete.
