Our journey

PP O’Connor was established in 1960 by Peter O’Connor Senior.

His first contract was running ash out of Carrington Power Station, just Peter and the company’s one wagon.

Through his hard work and determination, Peter secured further contracts including the supply and installation of hardcore for Manchester Ship Canal before developing the company to incorporate demolition services – an area Peter was an expert in. He invested in new equipment and employed specialist staff which ensured PP O’Connor became one of the biggest, best known, well-respected demolition and bulk earthworks companies in Greater Manchester working on contracts for the BBC, Stockport and Bolton Councils.

In 1990, due to the sudden illness and subsequent death of Peter O’Connor Senior, Peter O’Connor Junior took over the family business and with the support of his mother, Christine O’Connor as Company Secretary; brother, Justin O’Connor – Logistics Director and sister, Charmaine O’Connor – Commercial Director, they have built the company into the successful business it is today with a team of over 160 directly employed staff, over 60 wagons and an extensive fleet of high-tech plant and machinery.
