A lot of work we do helps pave the way for major regeneration projects to begin. Here’s a couple of examples.
Pendleton PFI is a 10 year, multi-million pound major regeneration project in the heart of Salford to create a better choice of quality housing and boost the area back to the thriving community it once was.
Scope of works:
Bulk earthworks; hard and soft landscaping including planting new trees and shrubs; resurfacing car parks; amendments to existing kerbing and drainage; block paved parking provision; block paving to public realm areas; hard standing cleaning; installation of boundary fencing and re-establishing and creating of new boundaries.
As this is a major regeneration programme for Salford which will deliver real social-value and benefits to the community, PP O’Connor will actively seek to employ long-term unemployed people from the local area and appoint one apprentice.
A major regeneration programme in Blackpool which will transform the town’s Queens Park housing estate into a vibrant new neighbourhood. The out-dated 1960’s three storey maisonettes and two 17-storey concrete tower blocks will be demolished to make way for 198 new, low-rise affordable family homes.
Scope of works
The safe deconstruction of five individual blocks of 3-storey maisonettes, including all associated external walkways; ramps and access stairs; two 17-storey residential tower blocks and garages. Works included; full internal soft strip of all buildings; licenced asbestos removal; protective scaffold and screening erection; deconstruction by hand of maisonettes closest to the occupied buildings; top-down deconstruction of tower blocks before controlled deconstruction using high-reach machinery.
PP O’Connor worked with Blackpool Build-up, a training and employment programme to provide sustainable jobs to long-term out of work local residents.
