Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets
To continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 100,000 tCO2e by 2030. This is a reduction of 42%.

Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to a 2024 figure of 189,601 tCO2e, a 4.5% decrease on the 2022 baseline as a result of carbon reduction initiatives.
Going forward we intend to utilise the following initiatives to reduce the carbon emissions in line with the above figures:
Ongoing Maintenance of Environmental Management System
P.P. O’Connor Group Limited operate an Environmental Management Systems certificated to ISO 14001:2015 by a UKAS accredited certification body. This sets out a framework of processes for ensuring that our environmental aspects and impacts, including carbon emissions are reduced as low as reasonably possible with ongoing targets set for continual improvement. We have environmental professionals on our assurance team holding memberships up to AIEMA level.
Project Specific Carbon Reduction Arrangements and Assisting Our Clients’ Carbon Reduction Goals
As P.P. O’Connor Group Limited have a net zero target, we believe we can organically contribute a range of benefits to our clients which will contribute to both the client’s and our own net zero targets. These include:
- Minimise fuel usage and emissions via the use of local labour (reduction in scope 1 emissions) local suppliers and subcontractors (reduction in scope 3 emissions) as much as possible.
- Use of modern energy efficient welfare cabins with motion detectors and LED lighting will reduce the project scope 2 emissions.
- We are investigating the possibility of using solar powered cabins for the works to further reduce scope 2 emissions.
- Ongoing environmental awareness training of site operatives via toolbox talks and poster campaigns to drive carbon footprint reduction both in and outside the project.
- Via our inhouse waste processing and the use of select specialist waste partners we aim to achieve at least 97% of waste from the project diverted from landfill.
- Ensuring all our suppliers and subcontractors used on the project have robust environmental management systems and carbon reduction policies via incorporation into the selection process in our prequalification process.
Logistics and Transport Carbon Reduction
To ensure carbon emissions are minimised as a result of transportation of goods and staff travelling to and from the sites P.P. O’Connor Group Limited implement the following measures:
- Minimise fuel usage and emissions by shortening travel distances via the use of local labour (reduction in scope 1 emissions) local suppliers and subcontractors (reduction in scope 3 emissions) as much as possible.
- Where possible using modern low emission vehicles and exploring electric and hybrid options when replacing company vehicles and vans.
- Utilisation of our company vehicle tracking system to ensure sound route planning, reduction in unnecessary vehicle usage and unnecessary idling. We use the vehicle tracking system to monitor and measure our vehicle scope 1 carbon emissions.
- We provide our drivers with efficient driving training to ensure they drive in a manner that reduces emissions.
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting2.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard3.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
