We’ve worked on many sports and leisure schemes, from internationally renown sports clubs to smaller leisure premises.
Project: Lancashire County Cricket Club
Client: Morgan Sindall
Value: £50,000
The modernisation and redevelopment of this iconic Cricket Club saw the construction of two new stands with a capacity of more than 7,000 seats, four-storey player dressing rooms and state-of-the-art media centre.
Scope of works:
To structurally separate and demolish a number of buildings within the ground’s footprint; structurally separating and demolishing a number of buildings around the Ground; segregation of works area and public areas; internal soft stripping.
Key consideration:
As the Club remained fully operational throughout the works, the team had to work to a demanding programme to ensure all matches and events were able to take place as scheduled and in a safe environment. Key liaison with the main contractor, Club and stakeholders was significant. The Point Conference Centre and Hotel were located within one meter of the demolition works.
Project: Berners Pool
Client: South Lakeland District Council
Value: £60,000
Duration: 6 Weeks
To enable the development of a new housing scheme, the Berners Swimming Pool at Grange-over-Sands was to be demolished in its entirety.
Scope of works:
The internal soft strip, controlled deconstruction of pool building, ground slabs and foundations broken out, and recycling and removal of waste materials.
Deconstruction methods:
The structure was of hybrid construction with a combination of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork and masonry. Although a relatively low level structure, the client nominated ‘top down’ controlled collapse as the proposed method of deconstruction.
