P.P. O’Connor (PPOC), the specialist civil engineering, demolition and waste management contractor based in Manchester, has been named a Gold Award winner by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for the second consecutive year.
The Gold Award recognises organisations that have sustained the highest standards of health and safety management year after year, rather than being awarded for a single year’s performance. Following last year’s Gold Award, PPOC’s back-to-back success reflects the consistency of its safety culture across demolition, civil engineering and waste management operations – often carried out on live, complex and high-risk sites.
2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, which began as a small event to recognise the achievements of companies prioritising the safety of workers in the UK and has grown into the biggest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme in the world, attracting 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries this year.
Entrants to the RoSPA Awards come from organisations of all sizes, from SMEs to blue-chip companies. As well as offering non-competitive achievement awards – in which Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit are awarded – entrants can also bid to be crowned winner across a range of industry sectors such as construction, manufacturing and entertainment, all judged by leading experts.
The application process encourages reflective practice, contributing to continuing professional development (CPD) and reinforcing the importance of ongoing learning in reducing workplace accidents. In receiving back-to-back Gold recognition, PPOC joins a proud legacy of organisations dedicated to keeping workers and the public safe.
