P.P. O’Connor becomes a Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Supporter

P.P. O’Connor, a leading specialist in demolition, earthworks, remediation and civil engineering, has today announced its Supporter status of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, recognising the company’s commitment to fair, secure and rewarding employment across its workforce.

The Good Employment Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme that recognises and celebrates employers across Greater Manchester who provide good employment. It brings together public, private and third-sector organisations that are working to raise employment standards across the city-region, covering areas such as secure work, flexible working, pay, people management, recruitment, workforce engagement and health and wellbeing.

With over 65 years of history delivering civil engineering, demolition and waste management projects across the North West, P.P. O’Connor employs a substantial workforce across its Trafford Park headquarters and sites throughout the region. Supporter status reflects the company’s ongoing investment in its people, including its approach to training, apprenticeships, workforce welfare and community engagement.

“Becoming a Supporter of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a proud milestone for P.P. O’Connor. Our people are the foundation of everything we deliver. This reflects the culture we have built over more than six decades – one where fairness, safety and opportunity for our workforce come first. We are committed to continuing to raise the bar for good employment across our industry and our region.”

Charmaine O’Connor, CEO

The Charter is coordinated by the Growth Company on behalf of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and forms part of the wider Good Employment Charter programme working towards Greater Manchester’s ambition to make the city-region a place where good employment is the norm, not the exception.

P.P. O’Connor joins a growing network of Greater Manchester employers who have signed up as Supporters, with the company now working towards the Charter’s full Member standard as part of its continued commitment to workforce development and employee wellbeing.
